How might we do the most good?

What is Effective Altruism?

Most of us want to make a difference. We see suffering, injustice and death, and are moved to do something about them. But working out what that ‘something’ is, let alone actually doing it, can be a difficult and disheartening challenge.

Effective Altruism is a response to this challenge. This growing social movement is committed to combining compassion with reasoning and evidence so that our choices do the most good possible.

Empowering Stanford students to tackle the world’s most pressing problems

Stanford Effective Altruism offers students the resources and support to figure out how they can best help others. With our ambitious approach, we aim to tackle some of the most challenging questions of our era: what global problems should we prioritize, what strategies have the best chances of solving them, and how can we best use our careers, resources, and time to contribute to these?

We run fellowships, discussions, speakers, socials/dinners, conferences, career planning & advising, and many more opportunities to get involved!
